Aimed to be Malaria Free World's kickoff event, Malaria Meltdown was held on
November 1st, 2014, at Nysmith School (www.nysmith.com) in Herndon, Virginia.
Malaria Meltdown 2014 featured noted malaria experts discussing their research. It also included fun and interactive events to promote malaria awareness for middle and high school teachers and students.
The keynote speaker at the expo was Dr. Ralph Mazitschek. Dr. Mazitschek is an Associate Professor at the Harvard Medical School, Co-Director of the Chemical Biology Platform at the Center for Systems Biology, Member of the Infectious Diseases Initiative at the Broad Institute, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Mazitschek is also Malaria Free World's Senior Scientific Adviser.
Among the distinguished speakers were Dr. Adam Ruben of Sanaria, Inc., Marc Cohen of Acetylon Pharmaceuticals, and Dr. Sean Prigge of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Please check out the speakers page for more details on our distinguished speakers.
Kritika Singh, Malaria Free World's founder and CEO, also presented her research related to antimalarial drugs and talked about the goals of Malaria Free World. In September 2014, Ms. Singh attended the Challenges in Malaria Research conference in Oxford, UK, and shared some up-to-date research in the field with everyone.
